The 2020 Ford Explorer has been completely redesigned from the inside out. With the addition of a 10-speed transmission, rear-wheel drive, and the ability to tow up to 5,600 lbs, Ford has some great new features for this year’s model. This 3-row 7-seater also comes with a bunch of other cool features.

Below we have picked out 5 of our favorite features in this year’s installment of the Explorer. a metallic 2020 ford explorer

5 Top Features of the 2020 Ford Explorer

1. Active Park Assist 2.0

A lot of new cars on the market have parking assists, but not many have it like this. The Park Assist 2.0 can accelerate, brake, and shift. All you have to do is press a button, and your Explorer will do the rest.

While you sit there, hold the park assist button for the duration of the parking job and the Explorer will park itself. The only downside is you can’t watch the magic happen from outside the car.

2. Post-Collision Braking

When a collision has occurred, your car can automatically apply moderate brake pressure to lessen the severity of a second collision. This will both lessen damage to the vehicle and injury to the driver and passengers in the event of an accident.

3. Intelligent 4WD with Terrain Management System

With 7 selectable drive modes, the Terrain Management System is ready for any adventure. You can active the different modes by using a simple dial located in the center console. The 7 available modes are normal, trail, snow, slippery, sport, haul, and eco.

Intelligent 4WD offers extra control on day-to-day commutes, especially for the time of year where conditions are rough,

4. Cruise Control

In this day and age, many fancy cars offer features such as speed limiting matching, speeding up or slowing down to match the speed limit signs that the car can recognize. But Ford is actually the first to offer a set speed of up to 10 mph above the posted speed limit. The system can also be set to standard or adaptive mode.

Adaptive mode stops and takes off again on its own if the vehicle in front of you moves within three seconds! The lane-keep assist also offers the choices of lane centering or departure prevention. These are some of our favorite features of the year.

5. Smart Seat Belts

The front seat belt pre-tensioners that most will have seen before have extended to the second row in the new Ford Explorer. In the case of a collision, the seatbelt pre-tensioners tighten seatbelts automatically to place you in the optimal seating position.

This limits chest loads as well as injury levels. Whiplash has reportedly been lessened by the seat belt pre-tensioners as well.

Bonus: Rear-View Camera Cleaner

We said five, but this feature is too cool to leave out. If you live in an area with dirt roads or you are in the northern United States during the salty road winters, the Explorer has a smart system to clean the camera that you’ll appreciate.

These new Explorer features are great, no doubt about that. But in order to really appreciate these new features, you’ve got to see them for yourself. If you want to see all that the 2020 Ford Explorer has to offer, come visit Howell Ford today.
